Diablo IV is an action role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment and is the fourth main installment in the Diablo series. In addition to making an appearance in the new Diablo IV video game series as Lucion’s sister and Mephisto’s daughter, Lilith is a character from Mesopotamian and Jewish mythology. She is referred to as the Queen of the Succubi in Sanctuary, the setting for the game. Halsey and Suga’s performance on “Lilith (Diablo IV Anthem),” which was directed by Henry Hobson, reflects the struggle for dominance and control that Lilith symbolizes in the video game.
In an interview recorded while filming the music video, Suga talks about how much he loves the Diablo video games and how June 6's release of Diablo IV will pass during his first solo world tour. He says, "I played Diablo 1, 2, and 3," to the camera. "I spent a lot of time in the Cow Level back then." (PC Gamer claims that Diablo 3's Cow Level is a hidden level event dedicated to artist Kevin Kanai Griffith, who passed away in October 2014 from an uncommon kind of cancer. Players engage in combat with a swarm of armed cow warriors at that level.)
“I am preparing to play [Diablo IV] once it releases and I am touring,” SUGA revealed, who is currently on the road supporting his solo album, D-DAY. “I bought a new laptop and I am just waiting. Once it releases, I will be playing, even as I am touring.”
Since its first release on June 5, the music video featuring the member of BTS has received over 8 million views on YouTube. The eerie image, which was created in association with Blizzard Entertainment, the company behind the well-known Diablo video game series, shows Halsey strolling through the Chapelle des Jésuites in Cambrai, France, while wearing a dark, hooded cloak. She eventually removes the cloak to reveal her fierce warrior attire and transforms into the game's Blessed Mother Lilith. Suga joins Halsey for the chorus of the remixed, darker version of "Lilith," which is taken from her highly praised 2021 album If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power. Suga also rhymes a new verse about mid-song.
"I am ecstatic to have collaborated with SUGA of BTS on a reworked rendition of 'Lilith;' for the Diablo IV theme song!" Halsey had previously mentioned collaborating with SUGA in a statement. I'm here as a collaborator as well as a fan because my family and I have spent many hours in Sanctuary. Also, I've always wanted to work with SUGA on an idea with this kind of sinister mythology. Fans of SUGA, myself, and Diablo will hopefully adore Lilith's hug.
