Suga’s letter on Weverse

_ Suga

Hello. This is Suga.
I am sorry and very grateful that the notice has gone out and many people are worried...! Fortunately, the surgery went well. I’m in pain now, but I’m quite relieved. Fortunately, the surgery went well. Since I’m a performer I tried to avoid surgery as much as possible with rehabilitation and injections, but I was afraid that my condition would get worse again and again when I was on stage. So, three of the four hospitals said that it would be better to perform surgery at this level, so I proceeded… (I really gave it a lot of thought..!) That’s why I’m doing it. I’m sorry to the members and ARMY for not being able to work with us for a while. I feel sorry for you too… I’ll be right back. I’ll be right back. It won’t be that long! I’m sorry and thank you again. ARMY!”

SUGA’s shoulder problems date back to a motorcycle accident that happened before his debut with BTS. The incident occurred during his trainee years under Big Hit Entertainment. While the injury initially seemed like a minor one, it later became a persistent source of discomfort and pain for the artist, affecting both his daily life and his performances. Despite this, SUGA continued to push through, delivering powerful performances on stage, producing music, and working hard with BTS as they climbed to the top of the global music charts. In recent years, however, the pain in his shoulder worsened, prompting the need for surgery. It was later revealed that SUGA had been suffering from a condition called a torn labrum, which refers to damage to the shoulder's cartilage. As his pain intensified, the decision was made for him to undergo surgery to prevent further complications and to improve his overall quality of life.

In November 2020, Big Hit Entertainment released an official statement confirming that SUGA had undergone surgery to repair the damage to his shoulder. They also mentioned that the decision to proceed with surgery was carefully considered after consulting medical professionals, and it was recommended to ensure SUGA’s long-term health. Following the surgery, it was announced that SUGA would be taking time off from group activities to recover, as his rehabilitation process would take some time.
